A Valentine’s Day lesson plan

Enjoy these Valentine's Day materials, highlighting themes of love and friendship. This lesson plan includes book options, activity, and considerations of goals & objectives.


Age group: grades K-4. *Craft modifications listed if candy is not allowed in the classroom.





Books

Receptive/Expressive Language:

Activity: Valentine's Lollipop

Hands-on activity to help enhance the theme of friendship. Download the instructions here, which includes modifications.

  1. This craft can be used to address production of speech sounds or receptive/expressive language goals in spontaneous speech or structured trials.

  2. Don't forget to download the leaf template! This template includes pre-written messages and blank leaves to address morphosyntactic goals, speech sounds at word and sentence level, etc.

  3. Communication and AAC. Use activity materials for joint attention skills, requesting and making choices, expressing yes/no, AAC navigation and selection, and more.

  4. Social and pragmatic skills. Use activity-related topics for topic maintenance and include opportunities for initiation and appropriate interaction as child gifts lollipops to group peers.
